Viva LA + IHG

I had the opportunity to stay at the beautiful centrally located InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown. My stay was 5 days 4 nights and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. I will say that logistically getting from the valet to your room may initially seem a little off-putting as you must go up the lobby, and then down to your but I enjoyed the adventure. (For context, you enter the multi use building that plays host to several restaurants and office space on the ground level then take an elevator up to the 70th floor where the lobby is located. You then take a second set of elevators to your room.)

What you will easily come to appreciate is the liveliness of the lobby. The décor was modern yet functional accompanied by a pleasant blend of people enjoying the communal spaces throughout the lobby. Outside of the space itself, let’s not forget the floor to ceiling windows that wrapped the entire floor giving you a beautiful wraparound view of Los Angeles. The view from this height was spectacular no matter what time you made your way to the lobby.

As you wind your evening down from a drink, meeting new people, hanging out with friends, enjoying wether is be the lobby, the restaurant, and/or the bar, You may find yourself ready to enjoy your room. The rooms were a true compliment to the lobby as they were clean, nicely furnished, and spacious. The room borrowed some of the lobby’s styling cues which were also complimented by floor to ceiling windows. I had a double occupancy room and it was adequately accommodating for 2 adults.

So, let’s go to what I feel was one of the most exciting amenities, the fitness facility. Notice, I didn’t say gym. This was the nicest fitness facility associated with a hotel that I’ve worked out in. The space offered the perfect balance of aesthetic and functionally. Not to mention it had tremendous square footage and was outfitted with top of line equipment by TechnoGym. Throughout the space you will find cardio equipment, free weights, a squat rack, mat for Olympic lifts, studios for classes, yoga, space for stretching, and more. Once, you think you’ve come off your high from the gym. There is the locker room! The locker is equally impressive. Upon entering, you will see a nice sized sauna complete with glass walls. Your eyes will also be drawn to what appear to be some sort of red cylinders. These red cylinders are private shower capsules. The coolest shower I’ve seen most anywhere. After your shower, on to the grooming stations and vanities to complete your boutique fitness experience.

To put an exclamation mark on my stay, the hotel staff was great. Everyone was professional, pleasant, and accommodating. Every space in the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown was well thought out, spotless, and fragrant. I love pleasant scents! I can’t imagine the ground outside the hotel smelt amazing also I saw members of the facilities staff mopping the stone steps & walkways outside. Well done! I enjoyed my stay and will book here again anytime I am in LA.
